Carrie Underwood surprised her fans on Saturday by covering the Limp Bizkit song “Break Stuff” during Iowa’s Velocity Festival at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville. She even donned a backwards red baseball cap just to make sure she went full Fred Durst during the performance of the popular nu-metal song.
That wasn’t the only surprise song the singer pulled out of her bag of tricks while headlining the festival. She also performed Collective Soul’s “Shine,” the Papa Roach song “Scars,” Linkin Park’s “One Step Closer,” and the Guns N’ Roses hit “Sweet Child o’ Mine” during her 23-song set.
Of course, she had to share a little caveat with the audience before she could perform Limp Bizkit’s 1999 smash.
“I love aggressive, angry music,” Carrie Underwood told the crowd. “But I also love Jesus, so I don’t say the potty words. and this next song has a lot of potty words, okay? But we’re not gonna say ’em, we’re not gonna say ’em, I need you to promise.”

As Rolling Stone pointed out, Carrie Underwood has performed multiple times with Axl Rose, sang with Joan Jett at her 2019 CMA Fest set, and regularly covers Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” in concert
She has also teamed up with Papa Roach in the past, and she joined them on stage in Las Vegas last year. Also, on the May 11 finale of American Idol, Underwood joined Motley Crue for performances of “Home Sweet Home” and “Kickstart My Heart.”
Whiskey Riff also pointed out that Carrie Underwood told Audacy in the past that she wouldn’t be opposed to making a rock album someday.
“I grew up listening to everything,” she said. “I do have an affinity for rock music and metal, and I just love the energy more than anything. I love going to rock concerts because it feels like freedom to me.”
