Can you believe it’s already been over a month since Chadwick Boseman passed away? I sure can. After all, you know what they say: time flies when you’re white-knuckling through what feels like a simulation of hell.

And yet, despite the fact that it’s been over four weeks, Boseman’s death still stings as though it happened yesterday, especially for those who knew him best, such as Chadwick’s brother Kevin.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Boseman’s family discussed losing their 43-year-old brother to colon cancer, which he was diagnosed with all the way back in 2016. One of the most heart-tugging tidbits came from Kevin Boseman, a 54-year-old pastor who is the oldest of the three Boseman brothers, who shared what Chadwick said to him the day before he died.

He took that faith to his dying breath, his brother said. When he was sick, the Boseman family had prayer calls with the actor. No matter what he was going through, he always said, “Hallelujah.”

“He never stopped saying it,” Pastor Boseman said.

The day before he died, Chadwick Boseman told him, “Man, I’m in the fourth quarter, and I need you to get me out of the game.” His brother asked what he meant, but then realized that he was tired. He was ready to go.

“When he told me that, I changed my prayer from, ‘God heal him, God save him,’ to ‘God, let your will be done,’” Pastor Boseman said. “And the next day he passed away.” [via The New York Times]

Even until the end, Boseman remained a man of fervent faith. We really did lose one of the good ones. Rest in greatest power, Chadwick, we’ll all miss you. Wakanda Forever.
