Brandon Staley has been taking a ton of heat the past week in the media, and for good reason. After all, his Los Angeles Chargers blew a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card Round on Saturday.

It was an embarrassing result that is part of a series of perceived coaching blunders by the 2nd-year head coach. At this point, he’s not well-respected around the league.

The memes were out on his abysmal performance.

Many Chargers fans wanted Staley to be canned, and that’s understandable given the talent on the roster. But, the team fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi instead.

And, in a Wednesday press conference, Staley spoke out about his job security.

Here’s some more information, courtesy of ESPN.

Brandon Staley has been aware of the ongoing speculation regarding his status as the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coach, especially as it grew louder following the team’s historic playoff collapse against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But when asked during Wednesday’s season-ending news conference if he ever felt his job was in danger, Staley responded bluntly: “No.”

“I have a lot of confidence in how we do things here and what we’ve been able to accomplish and that’s the truth,” said Staley, who is 19-15 in two seasons with the Chargers. “Everybody that’s been around me on a day-to-day basis knows that. I am aware of the speculation … but I was not worried about that because I know what goes on here on a day-to-day basis. I know what we have in our locker room. I know what’s out on that field and I’m excited to keep going.”

Sorry, Chargers fans. You’ve got him for another year.
