  • Chet Hanks is, unfortunately, going viral once again.
  • This time, Hanks is making the internet rounds thanks to his horrifying impression of Heath Ledger’s Joker.
  • Hanks also included an impersonation of Denzel Washington for good measure.

Chet Hanks is perhaps one of the most bizarre humans walking the Earth today. The son of America’s Dad Tom Hanks, Chet — whose destiny was perhaps pre-ordained upon being named Chet — is essentially the antithesis of his father. Every time he pops up, his actions seem to become stranger and stranger, with the latest interview in which he impersonates Heath Ledger’s Joker (for an uncomfortable amount of time) and Denzel Washington simply being the latest example.

During a recent appearance on Showtime’s late-night talk show Ziwe, a shirtless Chet hanks — who was sitting on an exercise ball — uncorked a lengthy impression of Heath Ledger’s Clown Prince of Crime. Just when it seemed that the moment couldn’t become any more awkward, Hanks then launched into an impersonation of Oscar-winner Denzel Washington, which prompted the host — comedian Ziwe Fumudoh — to tell him to not impersonate black people.

Chet Hanks does cringeworthy impressions of Heath Ledger’s Joker and Denzel Washington

This, of course, is not the first time that Hanks has put forth a cringe-worthy impersonation of a Black person, as the 31-year-old “rapper” has gone viral a few times for utilizing a Jamaican Patois accent. Obviously, this is something Ziwe references in the interview when she asks Hanks if he’s “desecrating black people” when he does impressions of them.

Perhaps luckily for Tom, Chet isn’t the only man carrying on the Hanks name in Hollywood, as his 44-year-old son Colin — whom he had with a different woman than his current wife Rita Wilson — has carved out a happy career as an actor, appearing in projects such as King Kong, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its sequel, and the hit FX series Fargo. He’s also currently starring in the Paramount+ series The Offer, which is about the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather.
