It would appear Dakota Johnson may have some regrets about starring in Madame Web.

Johnson’s decision to swap out her representation following the release of the Madame Web trailer has “raised industry eyebrows,” according to reports.

Tucked away in a new report from Variety about Sony’s bizarre Spider-Man spinoff franchise, it’s mentioned that Johnson’s decision to swap WME for CAA in November, just days after the first Madame Web trailer debuted, “raised industry eyebrows.”

The trailer was widely mocked upon its release, with many movie fans clowning on its dated aesthetic/costumes, clunky dialogue, and uninteresting characters.

Johnson also made a slightly disparaging mark about the film during her recent stint as host of Saturday Night Live, saying that Madame Web is like if AI generated your boyfriend’s perfect movie.”

There was also another interview in which Johnson described the process of making the movie and recalled saying to herself ‘I don’t know if this is going to be good at all! I hope that I did an OK job!’

Some fans have even started to believe that both Johnson and co-star Sydney Sweeney thought they were joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe when they joined the film, as they both tagged Marvel Studios in their Instagram posts announcing the project.

In addition to Johnson in the starring role, Madame Web also stars Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Adam Scott, Tahar Rahim, Zosia Mamet, Mike Epps, and more. The film will be released in movie theaters on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
