Dave Grohl Invites 22-Year-Old To Play ‘Monkey Wrench’ During Foo Fighters Concert And He Crushes

A 22-year-old Foo Fighters fan got the thrill of a lifetime when Dave Grohl invited him to play guitar during a recent concert. The Foo Fighters frontman invited Joey McClennon to play the classic rock song “Monkey Wrench” during a concert at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia. The young man from Everton Hills, Queensland, Australia was not intimidated when he was invited to perform infront of his idols and tens of thousands of fellow fans.

“Are you sure you can play it? The last thing you want to do is come up here and shit the bed in front of 40,000 people in your hometown,” Grohl warned the young man. Joey did not shit the bed, and it was quite the opposite actually. McClennon made a poster and Grohl noticed it, then invited Joey on stage to perform. He then played guitar in front of 40,000 screaming fans.

“It was the greatest thing ever… phenomenal,” Joey said. “Dave’s my idol and just to be in the same breathing space as him.. going to be with me a lifetime.” Then it was over in a matter of minutes and Dave instructed Joey to “get the fuck off my stage.” Best. Time. Ever.
