Dave Portnoy made an attack by an Uber Eats driver about Mayor Mamdani
A female Barstool Sports employee allegedly “got in a fight” with a food delivery driver at their New York City office on Monday, August 24. Barstool founder Dave Portnoy shared the video of the incident on social media while also implying that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is somehow at fault.
According to Dave Portnoy, who founded Barstool Sports in 2004, content creator Gia Mariano got into a fight with her “Uber Eats” driver during a delivery on Monday, August 24. Portnoy did not specify what sparked the incident but said it was “over her order.”

While Portnoy does not specify, that stage of the altercation appeared to be verbal and not physical. The situation escalated when the delivery person allegedly attacked their security guard Dan, who was the first to arrive on the scene.
Based on the tone of Portnoy’s tweet, it appears as though Mariano thankfully got away relatively unscathed, as he largely focused on the heroic reactions of his other employees, such as Gaz, Cody, and Travy.

“Our security guard Dan went into the hall to tell the guy to leave and he attacked him. Beat him up pretty good. @stoolsalesguy saved the day pulling him off. Then the rest of the troops rushed in followed by Cody and Travy for the Boys to help out,” Portnoy tweeted.
“Now what we got to pay very close attention to in the security footage we pulled is how @TomScibelli (in red) handled this explosive situation. Bravery like this can not go unnoticed. Totally secured and locked down the office. The police did show up and arrest the guy. Danny may need a few stiches and a couple beers. All in all another day at the Stool.”
The 49-year-old sports media entrepreneur, who floated a run for New York City mayor earlier this year, closed his tweet by politicizing the situation as he closed the post with: “Shoutout Mandami’s NYC.”
His sign-off isn’t based on fact, however, as New York City’s overall major crime rate dropped by nearly 6% in the first half of 2026 under Mayor Mamdani while also reaching historic lows for murders and shootings.
According to the Mayor’s office, during the first six months of 2026, robbery declined 11.9%, grand larceny dipped 4.2%, burglary dropped 15.8%, and grand larceny auto fell 9.7%. Transit crime, similarly, was also down 0.6% in the first six months of the year.
Still, New York City is, was, and always will be New York City, so isolated incidents involving likely crazy people will continue to happen until the end of time (or until the Flock/OpenAI robots begin enforcing martial law by the 2040s).
