Ever since Disney dropped their massive mouse dick on the table and bought Fox earlier this year, there have been constant rumors surrounding Deadpool’s eventual introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

More so than characters such as the X-Men and the Fantastic Four — both of which are in need of reboots — Deadpool is ready-made to be integrated into the MCU, as Ryan Reynold’s Merc with a Mouth is already an established franchise (prior to the release of JokerDeadpool and Deadpool 2 were the two highest-grossing R-rated movies of all-time).

Still, given the general vulgarity of Wade Wilson, working the character into the larger MCU narrative is going to take some finagling from Disney. And according to Ryan Reynolds himself, that process is already underway.

Appearing on Live With Kelly and Ryan on Christmas Eve, the ever-festive Reynolds revealed that the “whole team” is working on the film over at Marvel Studios.

“Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team,” Reynolds said. “We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”

Prior to Reynold’s announcement, there have been rumors that Deadpool would make his MCU debut via a cameo in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.

Given that Doctor Strange 2 seems poised to smash the MCU’s multiverse wide-open, that film seems like the perfect place to unveil Deadpool before rolling out Deadpool 3 when Phase 5 begins a couple of years from now.
