Derek Wolfe accomplished a lot in his football career. The defensive tackle played an impressive ten seasons in the NFL, much longer than the average career.

He even won a Lombardi Trophy as a member of the Denver Broncos in 2016. That’s the crowning achievement of every NFL player.

Not only did he win a Super Bowl, but he was huge for them that playoffs. Wolfe had 2.5 sacks in the postseason, including 5 tackles and a half-sack. He finished his career with 34 sacks, not a bad total for the 2nd-round pick out of Cincinnati.

But, he recently made news for a completely different reason.

Here are some more details, courtesy of The Daily Mail.

Super Bowl 50 champion Derek Wolfe claimed he hunted and killed a massive mountain lion with a bow and arrow in Colorado, sharing a photo to his Instagram.

The former defensive end revealed he had been asked to hunt the animal after it had been ‘wreaking havoc in a rural neighborhood’ in Colorado.

The mountain lion had reportedly already killed two dogs and a mule deer, Wolfe claimed in his post, and the woman who requested his services was ‘nervous what it might do next.’

It went on to say:

He said that after finding the deer, which he presumed the big cat had killed, he hiked over 9,600 feet up rough terrain and was ‘exhausted, dehydrated and cramping.’

However, he eventually found the animal and claimed he drew back his bow and killed it with an arrow.

He then claimed he had to crawl backwards down the mountain, dragging the carcass with him to get it back to his truck, falling 10 feet off a rock face in the process.

Wolfe shared a photo of him lifting up the carcass, which looked to at least match his six-foot-five frame and he estimated it ‘probably’ weighed 195 pounds.

Wolfe, who is a keen fisher and hunter and regularly posts photos of his kills on his Instagram feed, played in the NFL from 2012 to 2021.

Quite the kill, Derek Wolfe.
