Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose has been going viral in recent days after a video showing him playing chess on his phone while at a Drake concert was posted to social media.

Rose was spotted at Drake’s concert at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Drake has been embarking on his “It’s All A Blur” tour since kicking it off in Chicago back in July.

It’s definitely interesting to see Rose, who has signed multiple lucrative NBA and sponsorship contracts, sitting so high up in the stands with all of us regular people.

Drake has actually rapped about Rose in one of his songs, “Furthest Thing” on the 2013 album Nothing Was The Same. The lyric wasn’t all that flattering, though, as he used Derrick Rose’s name as a verb for tearing one’s knee.

“I had to Derrick Rose the knee up ‘fore I got the re-up,” Drake raps in the song.

After spending the last few seasons with the New York Knicks, the 34-year-old point guard signed a two-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies over the summer.

Rose’s NBA career has been a fascinating one, as he burst onto the scene to become the youngest MVP winner in the history of the NBA. After a series of knee injuries, though, Rose lost the nearly unmatched explosiveness that made him such a threat.

Still, despite that, Rose is now entering his 15th season in the league and has career averages of 17.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

In addition to the Knicks and the Grizzlies, Rose has also played for the Chicago Bulls (the team that drafted him in 2008) Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Detroit Pistons.
