'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmy Awards

Dexter Sol Ansell was one of the breakout stars of the hit Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms thanks to his co-lead role as Prince Aegon “Egg” Targaryen. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms landed an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series after its first season.

The nominees at the 2026 Emmy Awards were announced last week and Dexter Sol Ansell’s reaction to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms getting nominated for Outstanding Drama Series went viral on social media.

Dexter Sol Ansell’s first thought after A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was nominated for an Emmy was that he’d get to meet Zendaya

Ansell, just 11 years old and surrounded by a bunch of his equally eager friends, leapt with joy and screamed at the top of his lungs after watching the nomination announced on a live stream.

Once Ansell settled down and the reality set in, his first thought was “I’m meeting Zendaya!” before a wise friend wondered if he “could kiss her for me?” (Ansell politely declined).

Zendaya was nominated for her third Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series — she became the youngest winner in that category when she won in 2020 at 24 years old — so she’ll likely be in attendance at the show, giving Ansell’s wish a chance to come true, especially considering the pair’s network ties, as both A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Euphoria are on HBO.

While Outstanding Drama Series is the highest honor at the Primetime Emmy Awards, it’s the only category that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was nominated in.

The series did earn additional Creative Arts Emmy Award nominations in categories such as Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Period or Fantasy/Sci-Fi Hairstyling, Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour), Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation, Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, and Outstanding Stunt Performance.
