This Dog Saving His Best Friend From Drowning Will Make Your Heart Swell

Facebook

What would you do if you saw your best friend struggling to stay afloat in the pool? Get out your phone and use his buoyancy incapabilities for likes? Toss him a dumbbell? Genuinely ask him how he’s made it 30 years without being able to swim? If any of these ring true for you, you are a horrible person. Just like me.

And then there are the divine creatures that are canines. The ones who sniff out bombs, guide blind people, act as emotional support for anxiety-driven owners, help you pick up chicks at the park, and are endlessly loyal–even to their own kind.

An Arizona dog owner named Laurie Becerra recently posted a video to Facebook showing her dog Remus helping his brother Smokey out of the pool, as Smokey is a weak swimmer. The two were reportedly rough housing around the pool when Smokey tumbled into the water. The family surveillance camera caught what happened next…

And that my friends is why I was, am, and always will be a dog person.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
