Woman Orders Pepperoni And Spinach Pizza From Domino’s. She Can’t Believe What She Receives Instead—It’s Not Even Pizza: ‘I’m Suing’

We all know the feeling of getting a hankering for a certain meal—then having to wait until you can actually cook or order it.

That time between placing your delivery order and finally taking that first bite can be arduous. But all the while, you can remind yourself that, sooner rather than later, your tasty treat will arrive ready to be devoured.

Unless, of course, there’s something wrong with it. That’s what happened to Instagram user Elyse (@secret_sauce_69), who says that, when she ordered from Domino’s, she received something so disappointing that it caused her to collapse onto the ground in a mix of tears and laughter. It’s not pizza—so what the heck is it?

What’s Going On With This Domino’s Order?

In an Instagram Reel with over 1 million views, Elyse shows herself standing in a kitchen. She can barely contain herself, laughing to the point where she’s nearly crying.

“I don’t know if Domino’s ran out of pizza,” she starts, visibly confused.

“I ordered a medium pizza…pepperoni and spinach,” she continues. “And I waited an hour.”

The camera then shows what she received. It is not a pizza. It is, in fact, two rectangular slabs of cheesy bread. Elyse did receive pepperoni and spinach—one slice of pepperoni on one cheesy bread, and a single leaf of spinach on the other.

“They brought me two boxes of cheesy bread with one leaf of spinach and one pepperoni,” Elyse says, barely able to get the sentence out through laughter. By the end of the video, she’s collapsed onto the floor.

In the caption, she jokingly writes, “I am suing,” tagging both Domino’s and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

What Happened Here?

So, how did Elyse end up with two sparsely-topped cheesy breads instead of the medium pizza she ordered?

Honestly, it’s a bit of a mystery. However, at the bare minimum, we can say that the toppings situation isn’t as dire as it appears on the surface.

In the comments section, one user wrote, “Former dominos employee here, the topping on top is to tell whats inside them.”

Naturally, this is not what Elyse ordered. Nor is what the user is describing a “pizza.” That said, technically speaking, they are correct that Domino’s offers an item where they fill a cheesy bread with a topping, then place a single one on top to mark which topping they have used for the filling.

On the Domino’s website, there are several listings for variations on “stuffed cheesy bread.” These include items like Pepperoni Stuffed Cheesy Bread and Spinach and Feta Stuffed Cheesy Bread.

Elyse notes in her video that she did not order cheesy bread. So, why did Domino’s send her stuffed cheesy bread? It could be that the store didn’t have enough sauce for pizza and decided to go for a sauceless item—or it could be that the employees just messed up.

Commenters Have Questions

In the comments section, many users had questions for Elyse. To start, why on Earth did she order Domino’s pizza while living in New York City?

“But why order Dominoes if you live in NYC?” asked a user. “It ain’t even real pizza lol.”

“NYC used to house perfect pizza spots on nearly every corner so WHY THE FFFF ARE YOU ORDERING COLONIZER DOUGH?” echoed another.

That said, others simply lamented Elyse’s plight, with a few sharing their own stories.

“I had a friend who sent me a picture of his domino’s order and said ‘domino’s count ur f—ing days’ bc they gave him a single pepperoni just like that … and unlike the comments were clarifying, there was NOTHING inside,” detailed a commenter. “Like idk if they just forgot or somebody knew him personally, but I was crying laughing the same way you were.”

Other Pizza Debacles

Is it possible that Elyse simply ordered the wrong menu item? Sure. In fact, the internet is filled with stories of people not fully understanding the ordering process or interface, then receiving an item that barely resembles pizza.

For example, one woman went viral after saying that she accidentally received someone else’s order from Papa John’s. When she looked inside, she saw a sauceless, cheeseless pizza, with the only toppings present being green peppers and pineapple. Seeing this pizza, she called the customer who apparently ordered it a “f—ing crazy person.”

In another case, a man says his mom ordered a pizza from the Domino’s app. While building her own pizza, she seemed to have forgot the vital parts of what makes pizza, you know, pizza. As such, she received a “pizza” with dough, pepperonis… and that’s it. No sauce, no cheese, just bread and meat.

Still, there should probably be a policy in place to call and clarify absurd Domino’s orders. After all, who in their right mind is earnestly ordering a none pizza with left beef?
