There’s hungry, and then there is a customer in Maryland who retrieved his DoorDash order while his delivery driver was involved in a car crash.
In a video that has gone viral, DoorDash customer Glenn Ndibnu recorded himself arriving at an accident scene in Bowie with emergency lights flashing everywhere.
He drove there, so he might as well get his food, right?
In the video, Ndibnu described what happened and wondered to himself whether it would be acceptable for him to cross the street to pick up his order, even though the crash had totaled his DoorDash delivery driver’s car.
“I DoorDashed some food, and my DoorDasher told me he got in a car accident, and he was like, ‘I can come meet him and get the food from him,” Ndibnu explained.
Given what had happened to his driver, Ndibnu said he then started to feel bad as he decided to get out of his car and cross the street.
“I think that’s my food right there. Is it f—— up for me to walk across and pick it up?” Ndibnu asked. “I look so f—— up right now, about to go get this food.”
He didn’t feel bad enough, however, to not grab his order.
“What’s going on, bro? You the DoorDasher? You alright?” Ndibnu asked.
It ended up probably being a good thing that he picked up his order
After grabbing his order, Ndibnu apologized to William Koroma, his DoorDash driver. After the car accident, Ndibnu found out that Koroma said he now needs financial help and has started a GoFundMe.
“On my way to my last delivery of the night on Church Road in Bowie, Maryland, my vehicle experienced brake failure and I was involved in a major accident,” the GoFundMe reads. “My car was totaled, and I am deeply grateful that I survived and that no one else was seriously injured.
“Since the accident, I have been facing several challenges at once. Losing my vehicle has left me without reliable transportation, and I have also lost my job. That has made it very difficult for me to work, manage daily expenses, and keep up with basic needs like food. On top of that, I am dealing with medical costs from the accident, which has added even more financial pressure during an already difficult time.”
Because of the notoriety Koroma gained from his DoorDash customer being so insistent on getting his order, the GoFundMe has nearly reached its $16,000 goal. So, as it turns out, Glenn Ndibnu tracking him down actually ended up being a good thing.
