Dua Lipa’s ascendancy to the top of Hollywood continues as the 28-year-old pop star has scored her first Golden Globe nomination.

Lipa has been nominated for Best Original Song, Motion Picture at the Golden Globes for her work on “Dance the Night”, which was the lead single on the Barbie soundtrack and was featured in the film itself.

In addition to “Dance the Night”, Lipa also starred in the film as Mermaid Barbie (John Cena played Mermaid Ken).

To celebrate the Golden Globe nomination, Lipa took to social media to share behind-the-scenes photos of her time on set filming her Mermaid Barbie scenes.

“Wow waking up a Golden Globe nominee!” Lipa wrote on Twitter and Instagram. “This Barbie is so grateful! So happy I get to share this moment with my collaborators for our song ‘Dance The Night’ Caroline Ailin, Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt and so much love to the Greta, Noah, Margot and Ryan on their much deserved nominations! Let’s go Barbie!”

Barbie had the most nominations of any film with nine overall.

In addition to being nominated for Best Original Song — three times over, as “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For?” also scored noms — Barbie was also nominated for Best Screenplay, Best Director for Greta Gerwig, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, Best Actress for Margot Robbie, Cinematic and Box Office Achievement (which is basically nominating movies that did well at the box office), and Best Picture, Musical or Comedy.

Given how massive Barbie has been — it’s the highest-grossing film of 2023 and will also go on to be nominated for a bunch of Academy Awards — it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if the Golden Globes had either Lipa or some of the cast perform a musical number during the ceremony.

In addition to Robbie, Gosling, Lipa, and Cena, Barbie also stars America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.
