Over the weekend, the always-globe-trotting Lipa shared another series of photos with her fans that features her in a pair of shorts that are desperately struggling to do what they were designed to do.
Lipa is coming off one of the busiest years of her career, as she not only spent virtually all of 2022 on her Future Nostalgia tour but she’s also been working on her highly anticipated third studio album and made her feature film debut in Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar-grossing smash hit Barbie.
In addition to featuring in Barbie as “Mermaid Barbie”, Lipa also recorded the lead single from the film’s soundtrack “Dance the Night.”
“The first thing I saw from the Barbie movie when Mark Ronson asked me to write the song for the big dance scene in the film was the cast dance rehearsals,” Lipa said of creating the song.
“We then set off with the plan to write a song based on Barbie’s inner thoughts in that very moment on the basis of what was to come next in her story and on the premise of the whole film. Fast forward to seeing the song we wrote together come to life on the big screen was a very surreal moment for me. The song no longer felt like it belonged to me but belonged to Barbie and her perfect/imperfect self,” she said.
The 28-year-old’s acting career won’t just be a one-and-done with Barbie, though, as she’s also set to have a role in the upcoming Matthew Vaughn-directed action thriller Argylle.
Set to hit theaters in February 2023, Argylle will also star Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Rob Delaney, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, and Samuel L. Jackson alongside Lipa.
At this time, Lipa’s upcoming third album does not have an official title or release date.
