Just a day after news broke that Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman was in talks to star in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion, reports now indicate that former Game of Thrones star and four-time Emmy nominee Emilia Clarke is also set to join the cast — a cast that *already* featured Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Kingsley Ben-Adir, mind you.

At this time, Clarke’s role is obviously being kept under wraps, although given the nature of the series, a safe assumption would be that she’s playing a Skrull, which are the shape-shifting aliens that first debuted in Captain Marvel and were revealed to be taking the place of Nick Fury (who’s apparently up in space with the Skrull race) and Maria Hill in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Again, that’s purely speculation.

Secret Invasion was announced as a development property last year, one of Marvel’s many planned titles for Disney Plus. Jackson is reprising his MCU role of Nick Fury, while Mendelsohn will play the Skrull Talos as he did in the feature film Captain Marvel.

The series is said to follow a group of shape-shifting aliens who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Ben-Adir has been set as the a main villain. Kyle Bradstreet is attached to write and executive produce. [via Variety]

In addition to Secret Invasion, series such as Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Ironheart, Armor Wars and She-Hulk will be making their way to D+ in the coming years.
