Netflix has released the first trailer for Extraction 2, the sequel to the 2020 action film Extraction which starred Chris Hemsworth in the lead role of Tyler Rake.

Produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film features Hemsworth as a mercenary tasked with extracting a client from a dangerous situation.

Here is the official synopsis for Extraction 2, via Netflix:

Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in EXTRACTION 2, the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster action film EXTRACTION. After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.

Teasing the film in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hemsworth said that the film required the most “detailed and exhausting training” that he’s ever been a part of.

“We sort of went for the moon,” Hemsworth said of the film. “In a very crowded world of action, I think we did something that’s very unique.”

After Extraction 2, Hemsworth will next be seen starring as the primary antagonist opposite Anya Taylor-Joy in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa, which will be hitting theaters in the United States next Summer, and will be voicing Optimus Prime in an upcoming Transformers animated movie.

From there, however, reports indicate that Hemsworth plans on taking a bit of a break from acting after he found out that he’s genetically predisposed to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

Alongside Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, Extraction 2 — directed by Sam Hargrave and produced by the Russo Brothers — stars Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili.
