A TikToker has gone viral after sharing their concerns about Pepsi's involvement in the making of Dr. Pepper.
We all have our passions. And for one woman, that passion is Dr. Pepper.
As previously reported by BroBible, one Dr. Pepper enthusiast was so in love with the brand, he spent $39,000 on it before undergoing hypnosis. And while this TikToker hasn’t spent thousands on the soda, her own enthusiasm is palpable.
Juliana (@mommaof.2boys) films the video, which has garnered 3.5 million views, in a store. She stands before a chiller of bottled drinks, specifically in front of rows of Dr. Pepper with two different bottle shapes.
“OK, so this is how you know I’m a Dr. Pepper w—-,” she begins. She then points to one bottle, which has a visually similar shape to a Pepsi.
“This is fake Dr Pepper,” she insists. “This is made by Pepsi. Hence why the f— it looks like a Pepsi.”
By contrast, she then touched a second bottle, which is a different shape and has the label further down.
“This is the real Dr Pepper,” she adds.
“So this and this is not the f—— same. “Don’t ever f—— bring me this s—. If I send you to get me a Pepsi, don’t bring me this s— because I’m gonna f—— cry,” she says.
She continues, “This is fake. If it looks like this [points at bottle], it’s f—— made by Pepsi, so it does not taste the same like this [points at bottle].”
“If I send you to the f—— store, and I ask you to bring me a Dr. Pepper, and you don’t bring me one that looks like this [holds up bottle], I’m gonna be f—— livid because its not real Dr Pepper its f—— made by Pepsi,” she continues.
BroBible reached out to the TikToker by TikTok direct message. We also reached out to Keurig Dr. Pepper via email.
What’s The Consensus?
Some commenters agreed.
“News flash Pepsi makes all Dr. Pepper,” one wrote.
“All Dr. Pepper is made by Pepsi look it up,” a second urged.
A third added, “Wait until you find out it all comes from the same place.”
Others argued that it is just a distribution thing.
“Girl it’s not fake because it’s in a different bottle,” a fourth explained. “It’s the same recipe with different bottling plants. Saying this as someone who worked for Coca-Cola and had to go through all the training on who’s who and the difference.”
“It’s actually not made by Coca Cola or Pepsi it’s just distributed by them. You are correct though the ‘hour glass’ shape is Pepsi and the other is Coca Cola. They bottle them like that so people can know which company distributed it. Other than that Dr. Pepper makes their own Dr. Pepper then sends it to Pepsi and CC.”
In response to the comment, the TikToker said, “Yes I know the difference haha I was drunk when I recorded this. I was just trying to say tastes different.”
She said in a reply to another comment, “It’s bottled by Pepsi.”
In reply to a third commenter, she repeated, “I knew exactly what I was trying to say I was drunk sooo wording was off.”
Does Pepsi Make Dr. Pepper?
It’s important to note that Pepsi doesn’t own Dr. Pepper. In actuality, the popular soft drink brand is owned by Keurig Dr. Pepper. The company was formed in 2018 as part of a merger between Dr. Pepper Snapple Group and Keurig Green Mountain.
Tasting Table reports that, prior to the merger, Dr. Pepper didn’t package its own drinks. Instead, it licensed out Pepsi and Coca-Cola to distribute and package its bottles. Since the merger, Dr. Pepper packages its drinks in-house, but there are still some areas in the U.S. and around the world where Coca-Cola and Pepsi still bottle and distribute Dr. Pepper.
As for the taste difference, the outlet reports that Keurig Dr. Pepper has denied that it has different recipes. This means that any taste change could be due to the way it is made in the bottling facility.
As far as whack Dr. Pepper packaging goes, the Walmart that packed the Dr. Pepper in a cremation box will always come first…
@mommaof.2boys #drpepperlover #iykyk #fyp yes there’s a HUGE difference!!!!
