Florida Server Waits On Table Begging For Free Stuff. Then They Tip Her 1 Single Penny: ‘She Really Tipped You In A Currency That Doesn’t Exist Anymore’

Difficult tables are undoubtedly the worst part of being a server. But in the latest installment of her “Am I On Earth” series, Makenzie (@cokekenz), a server based out of Tampa, Florida, couldn’t believe this one table’s audacity.

The video, which has garnered 76,800 views, was filmed in her car. Things started off badly, with the table interrupting her as she was introducing herself, Makenzie recalls.

Makenzie says that one woman then interrupted her again as she was dealing with another table. When asked by her current able if she wanted to answer the table in question, she recounts saying, “no.” The customer, she says, continued to yell, “Excuse me.” And, at that point, a different table in between Makenzie and the customer called the customer out, pointing out she was clearly bust.

The offending table’s bad behavior continued as they kept asking for free stuff for a birthday, Makenzie says. The TikToker says she told them that it is only for rewards members and that while she can sign them up, it would take 24 to 48 hours.

Things Come To A Head For The Server

“We get through the whole meal; they’re driving me f—— nuts,” Makenzie continues. According to the server, the table asked for extra of everything and even polished off six baskets of bread. When the time for dessert came, they once again asked about a free item before deciding to go straight to the bill. Makenzie’s tip? One penny. To add insult to injury, she says the patron gave her $70 for a $69.99 meal and said to keep the change.

“One penny, one cent?!” the TikToker asks in disbelief. One cent. One singular Abraham Lincoln is what you’re leaving on the table? And it wasn’t even heads up.”

The creator then ruminated on how the bad tipper said, “Keep the change.”

“The way you said that, I don’t know, baby. I don’t know. The way you sound—that sounded kind of f——crazy,” she remarks. “It sounded like you meant it offensively.”

“Mind you, I sort of knew we were going down that road when they were asking me if they can get anything for free,” she adds, noting how she is good at spotting red flags.

The worst part? She says they kept asking for more things after they paid.

“You didn’t even pay me for the service,” Makenzie laments. ” She adds that they “paid for the food that [they] sat down and ate; [they] didn’t pay for the service.”

“You gave me one penny, told me to keep the change. You can shove that penny right up your f—— a– and go f— yourself, OK? Because your outfit looks like it’s worth 1 f—— penny. Get the f— out of my f—— section the answer is no, OK?” she continues.

The Customers Return

The customers then left. However, they, according to Makenzie, returned 30 to 40 minutes later, asking for the manager.

“They tell the manager that I had no idea what I was talking about. I was so dumb, and I refused to honor their birthday reward,” the TikToker recalls.

“Not coming in here and lying on my name to the people who love me, to the people who know me, to the people who know I’m not a lying a– b—-, people who know that I’m a strong server, to people who know that I very rarely need manager visits at my tables. You’re coming back into the restaurant that I work at, that I am employed at, telling the folks who employ me here that I am a f——stupid idiot […] I don’t f—— think so, mama,” she continues.

According to Makenzie, the customer went into the parking lot, signed up for the rewards program, and then said she refused them. Meanwhile, she reiterates how she didn’t give them free stuff because they weren’t part of the rewards system.

The manager then went up to Makenzie and discussed the wild stuff the customer said to them. As they waited in the lobby, the creator says she talked loudly at the hostess desk so that they could hear.

Trouble Continued At The Next Table

For Makenzie, things didn’t improve at her next table. “It was a night of raggedy f—— b——. Let me tell you that,” she complains. As she greeted the table next to them, she says a man called her and held out dishes for her to take.

“Baby, you can sit there and hold that until your little f—— arms fall off. I’m not fucking taking that out of your hand until I’m ready. Do you hear me? This is my world, and you’re living in it. This is my circus, and these are my monkeys,” she says.

Worst of all, she says they paid $10 on top of $120, not even tipping her for the service they were “begging” her to do.

She then circles back to the first table.

“They were on Instagram Live while they were talking to me f——crazy, talking to me like some servant woman,” Makenzie adds. “I was getting so f—— hot and bothered because why are you, like—why are you talking to me like this in general but in front of the entire internet? It can’t be the entire internet because nobody’s f——watching your s— I already know it,” she continues.

Is A 1-Penny Tip Worse Than Nothing?

Commenters couldn’t believe it.

“Somehow one cent is more insulting than nothing,” one wrote.

“I literally just tipped my DoorDasher extra because I had a scary looking spider outside of my front door and I felt bad cause maybe she was scared too,” a second said.

“She really tipped you in a currency that doesn’t exist anymore,” another noted.

A fellow server added, “I love it when my customers clock other rude customers, because if I do it I’ll look like a b—- and it might affect my tip.”

And a fifth asked, “CAN U EVEN CASH THAT TIP OUT PENNIES ARE OBSOLETE ???”

‘Am I On Earth’

This isn’t the first time one of Makenzie’s “Am I On Earth” went viral. In a May storytime, the server detailed three customers that bothered her during her food running shift—a shift that involves bringing food to tables with little interaction. “Today is not actually my day to deal with these problems. This is actually my freebie day, where I just come in. I make my little amount of money. I hang out with my little friends. And I have a good old time. And you’re actually ruining that for me,” she said.

The first customer, who was from a different section, kept calling Makenzie over to ask about when their food was coming. When she checked with the kitchen, the customer asked the creator about their food just six minutes after it was rung in.

A second customer then tried to get Makenzie’s attention as she was serving someone else, saying that she wanted to order dessert. Makenzie said someone would be with her soon, but the customer complained that there were no one in the bar. Yet, Makenzie noted that there was actually four people.

Meanwhile, a third customer insisted that the food Makenzie brought over to them wasn’t actually their order—even though the TikToker knew that it definitely was. “I just can’t even as a grown adult man—right?—you’re looking at me—someone who works here, who just told you this is the dish that you ordered—and you said, ‘No, it’s not,'” she said. “And I asked you what you ordered, and you tell me. And I said, ‘Yes, that is this.’ And you’re still gonna tell me, ‘No, that’s not it.’ What? What are you f—— even talking about?”
