Convicted felon Billy McFarland is determined to throw another festival in The Bahamas now that he’s served the 6-year sentence in federal prison after his fraud conviction following Fyre Festival 1.0. He first tweeted about 2.0 happening back in April but the announcement is now public.

On Sunday, Billy McFarland announced Fyre Festival 2.0 on YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram with a video titled ‘Announcing FYRE Festival II’. Despite the historical fiasco that was Fyre Festival 1.0, a disaster of such epic proportions that multiple documentaries were filmed about McFarland’s fraudulent failure, people are allegedly throwing money at Fyre Festival 2.0 and the pre-sale is reportedly sold out.

In the Fyre Festival 2.0 announcement, McFarland says “This is a big day. It has been the absolute wildest journey to get here, and it really all started during a seventh-month stint in solitary confinement. I wrote out this 50-page plan of how it would take this overall interest and demand in Fyre and how it would take my ability bring people from around the world together to make the impossible happen.”

People rushing to buy tickets to Fyre Festival 2.0 sounds outlandish enough but the fact that they’re doing it without a single artist/musician announced or a lineup of any sort revealed.

There will be multiple tiers of tickets sold. The next Fyre Festival 2.0 pre-sale, according to the festival’s website, is ‘Coming Soon’ with ticket #’s 101-500 up for grabs at $799/ticket. Each tier of presale tickets goes up in price until reaching the ‘Pre-Sale Last Chance’ tickets that are listed at a whopping $7,999.

Again, there isn’t a single artist announce. Nor is there a lineup of any sort. But people are buying tickets according to Billy McFarland who tweeted that the first presale batch of tickets is sold out!

Since that tweet cuts off when embedded on websites (thanks, Elon), hopefully the message loads via Instagram:

According to the *festival’s website, I added an asterisk there because it’s hard to call it a festival without any musical acts or artists of any sort, the next presale for Fyre Festival 2.0 will take place on December 6th.

Despite the first batch of presale tickets selling out, there are a lot of people expressing disbelief in Billy’s comments/mentions.

One person wrote “So pumped for the premiere of season 2 on Netflix!” Another joked “Sold out in 24hrs without a date, venue or location… why is this hard to believe.” One of his followers asked “How are you legally allowed on this app?”

Someone else chimed in with “Fool me once, your fault. Fool me twice….” And my favorite reply was “I did a presentation on FYRE festival in college at Ohio State” which illustrated just how widespread of a disaster Fyre Festival 1.0 was.

Those comments were all on Instagram. Unsurprisingly, on Twitter, the top reply to Billy McFarland announced Fyre Festival 2.0 is ‘Blue’ subscriber saying “no way I’m gonna miss this.”
