The last episode Game of Thrones episode was non-stop action up until the last few minutes. Then the adrenaline-pumping battles in King’s Landing and fire being rained down from Drogon suddenly stop and seemingly the only ones who made it out alive in the chaos and carnage are Arya Stark and a white horse. This of course is just not happenstance, there is a hidden meaning to the white horse and there are fan theories that say it could have major ramifications for the Game of Thrones finale.

At the end of the action-packed Episode 5 of Season 8, Arya emerged from the fiery debris of King’s Landing to see a white horse.

Many Game of Thrones fans claim that the white horse is the same white horse that Harry Strickland rode on.

However, Strickland’s horse seems to have been suffered a near-fatal blow when the gate of King’s Landing was blown away to smithereens by Drogon at the 2:35-mark.

It should also be noted that several members of the Dothraki horde ride on white horses as you can see at the 3:35-mark of the above video. It doesn’t appear that the previous owner of the horse matters to what’s to come.

How did the horse get there is a better question. In a time when Daenerys Targaryen is obliterating the entire city, why would an animal stick around as a giant dragon torches everything? The horse would certainly get the hell outta dodge. There is a Game of Thrones fan theory that the horse was sent to Arya as a lifesaver.

Could Bran Stark AKA the Three-Eyed Raven finally have done something productive? Could Bran have warged into the horse to be Arya’s personal Uber to get her out of the burning city?

There was potentially a hint of the white horse during “The Bells” episode. While Arya was trying to escape the destruction, she met and bonded with a peasant mom and her young daughter, who was carrying a toy horse. Foreshadowing.

The girl was clutching a toy white horse despite running for her life from Dothraki and incoming dragon fire (starting at the 1:55-mark). The girl was burned to death, but was seen still holding the charred wooden horse figurine in her scorched hand.

There are some people who believe that the white horse is a reference to the Bible and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. In the last book of the New Testament of the Bible, the Book of Revelation by John of Patmos, at 6:1–8 it says: “I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him.”

Could Arya Stark be turning from a follower of The Many-Faced God to the Angel of Death?

In Episode 2 of Season 8, Arya already told Gendry, “I know death. He’s got many faces. I look forward to seeing this one.”

Will Arya fulfill her kill list? Remember Melisandre’s prophecy about how Arya will green eyes will “shut forever?” Daenerys Targaryen has green eyes and Cersei Lannister is already dead, which Arya did not personally kill.

A white horse has come up in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books as a warning to Khaleesi. The mysterious character Quaithe from Qarth forewarns Dany In A Dance with Dragons, “The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun’s son and the mummer’s dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal.”

Is Arya the “pale mare” that Quaithe warned Daenerys about and does that mean that Arya will kill the Mother of Dragons? Will Jon Snow stop his sister from murdering his queen?

Will Arya become the prophecy of Azor Ahai and use a flaming sword to kill Daenerys to rid the world of the woman who killed nearly a million innocent people to take the Iron Throne? Is Arya actually the Prince That Was Promised? Arya fits the description: “He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire.”

Then there are some who say that the horse scene is perfect for the music video for Old Town Road by Lil Nas X.
