Police officers never know what they’re going to have to deal with when they’re called to the scene of a crime. People in that line of work handle plenty of bizarre cases, including one in Georgia involving an alleged thief who became “infatuated” with a rubber duck before making off with a haul of luxury towels from someone’s swimming pool.

People who work in law enforcement attend to a wide variety of matters, and while it is possible to have a dull day in that particular line of work, it’s the kind of job where you tend to encounter many scenarios you never could have dreamed of when you decided to pursue it.

There’s no shortage of ways to break the law, and as someone who’s kept tabs on the Weird News beat on the internet for well over a decade, I’ve encountered countless criminal suspects who’ve come up with some impressively creative ways to do exactly that over the years.

Now, we have our latest entry in that particular canon thanks to what transpired in Georgia at the start of September.

Police in Georgia are trying to track down a man who hopped into someone’s swimming pool, became “obsessed” with a rubber duck, and stole a bunch of expensive towels

There are plenty of perks that come with having a swimming pool at your house, as well as some potential downsides. Most people probably aren’t overly concerned with a random person invading their property to take a dip in the middle of the night, but that’s what recently transpired outside of Savannah, Georgia.

The Chatham County Police Department recapped the bizarre series of events that sparked the hunt for a suspect they say trespassed on a property early in the morning of September 1st.

A surveillance camera captured a man entering a swimming pool before heading to a hot tub where he was filmed “spending more than 10 minutes intensely interacting with” a rubber duck. He allegedly capped off his visit by grabbing six luxury towels that cost $200 a pop, and he threw that $1,200 haul on his bike before pedaling away.

If you happen to know who he may be, the department is still trying to track him down as of this writing.
