The Golden Globes are back on the air on NBC this year after being boycotted by celebrities in recent years due to a string of public controversies, and the ceremony got off to a nightmarish start thanks to the cringeworthy monologue from a comedian and actor named Jo Koy.

After a handful of Koy’s jokes bombed, he then threw the writers of the show under the bus by going off-script and claiming that he only wrote some of the jokes and the ones that the audience found funny were only written by him.

“I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. You’re kidding me, right? Slow down. I wrote some of these, and they’re the ones you’re laughing at,” Koy said.

After his first monologue, Koy then got back on stage to make to present the first awards of the night (Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress) and made a joke about the broadcast coverage of Taylor Swift when she’s at Kansas City Chiefs games and got another wave of silence from the crowd, including a stonewall face from Swift herself.

“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” Koy joked, prompting the uninterested if not actively angry reaction from Swift.

Koy, 52-years-old, is best known for his appearances on the E! late night show Chelsea Lately and the recent films Easter Sunday, Haunted Mansion, and Leo.
