Some men were born to accomplish incredible things. Shunichi Kanno of Japan is one of those men.

He puts his pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us but then he goes out and accomplishes the unimaginable.

I won’t dive deeply in The Great Man Theory of the 19th Century, but those to believe it to be true can look back at the Philips of Macedonia, Alexander The Greats and Winston Churchills of history and see an invisible hand leading these figures to greatness.

Claiming a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records was a foregone conclusion for this man. Clearly, his talent was a celestial gift from the old Gods and the new. That’s the only feasible explanation for how he was able to accomplish this Guinness World Record, right?

Nicknamed ‘Canhead’ and ‘for a reason,’ Shunichi Kanno is the only mortal on earth who can stick 11 empty soda cans to his head using nothing but air suction.

According to GWR, Kanno (aptly named) first held this world record back in 2019 when he stuck just 9 cans to his head. That record was then stolen by Jamie “Canhead” Keeton (USA) last year with 10 cans stuck to his head.

That was until Shunichi Kanno claimed the world record back after keeping 11 cans on his head, suction cupped by air, for a total of 5 seconds.

Kanno explained his technique to GWR as “You make a wrinkle [on your skin], then place a can there. Push the can firmly towards your head and ease your wrinkle. This reduces the air pressure between the can and the skin, and the can should stick like a suction cup.”

He makes it sound like any of us can master this skill when clearly this is one of the most extraordinary talents ever harnessed.

Hat’s off to this man and his powers.
