A man in Moscow programmed OpenAI’s ChatGPT to talk to over 5,000 women on Tinder and schedule dates in real life.

He ended up meeting his wife.

Aleksandr Zhadan, a Russian software developer, was like most people out there who are searching for a partner.

However, unlike most people who try and try again on dating apps like Tinder only to come up empty, Zhadan took things to the next level by enlisting an assistant… an AI assistant.

Using OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Aleksandr Zhadan was able to streamline the Tinder process so well that he ended up “talking” to 5,239 women and schedule over 100 dates.

He refined the chatbot over time to speak like he would, filter out women who had alcohol in their photos and zodiac signs in their profiles (apparently those are red flags for him), and send likes to women that met his overall criteria.

Amazingly, Zhadan’s AI assistant was eventually able to pick out one woman out of the over 5,000 it found on Tinder that it believed was his perfect match: Karina Vyalshakaeva.

Vyalshakaeva admitted for the first few months of the relationship she didn’t realize she was speaking with ChatGPT and not Aleksandr.

They did finally meet in person and things went to so well that that moved in together.

“At some point, the project wrote me a recommendation that maybe it’s time to propose to Karina,” Zhadan told Gizmodo.

“Karina said she wanted to go to a wedding, but ChatGPT thought she’d prefer attending her own,” he said. “I took the advice, and she said yes.”

Vyalshakaeva, rather than being angry that she had been deceived, said she was just surprised.

“He spent a lot of time personalizing these prompts so, for me, it’s okay when used in a rational way,” she said.

She even talked to his AI assistant when she knew he was busy, like it was normal.

“I think the most important thing is our real-life connection, which is great,” she added.

If you want to learn more about this wild story, Zhadan shared the entire story in a very, VERY lengthy X thread.
