Video of Haley Joel Osment’s arrest for alleged public intoxication at a California ski resort has been released. The 37-year-old actor was arrested at Mammoth Mountain on April 8 for alleged public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.
According to reports, Haley Joel Osment caught the attention of the mountain’s ski patrol after he tried to get in line for a ski lift without a snowboard and his helmet on backwards. In video taken by a bystander, someone can be heard saying “he’s had a little too much.”
Bar staff at Mammoth Mountain evidently agreed with that assessment, as reports indicate he was previously cut off after one drink. When police arrived, Osment was seemingly belligerent and unable to keep his pants up. Police say they then found cocaine residue on a $20 bill in Osment’s helmet, thus the cocaine possession charge.
Video of Osment’s arrest shows the actor, who recently lost in home in the Los Angeles wildfires, then calling the police a Nazi and a Jewish slur (beyond the offensiveness of those things, they’re also contradictory, but nevertheless).
“I’ve been kidnapped by a f—— Nazi,” Osment can be heard saying in the footage obtained by The New York Post, who add that he “called the officer a Jewish slur.” The video they’ve published is bleeped out, however, so it is unclear what that slur was.
“You’re really like torturing me,” Osment says in the back of the cop car. “You’ll wish you treated me nicer than you. You’re going to regret this. Good luck.”
After video of his arrest was made public, Osment released a statement in which he said he was “horrified by his behavior… and [use of] disgraceful language.” Osment seemed to imply he did not even remember saying this until seeing the video as his was blacked out.
“I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner. The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place,” Osment said in a statement to People on April 17.
While Osment is best known for his work as a child actor in The Sixth Sense, he’s remained a steadily working actor over the decades. Just last year, he starred in the film Blink Twice, and also has an upcoming guest role in the second season of the hit Jenna Ortega-starring Netflix series Wednesday.
