After years of delays, Hogwarts Legacy — a Harry Potter action role-playing game that will allow you to become a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry — is finally set to release in February.

In classic RPG form, players will be in full control of the type of character they become, as evidenced by the fact that Hogwarts Legacy will allow you to use both torture and murder spells on other students.

The game will let players learn the series’ infamous unspeakable curses and even use them on students. A new gameplay reveal ups the ante even further though, showing off the game’s Dark Arts Battle Arena where $10 extra bucks nets you the opportunity to instantly murder goblins and wizards.

In Hogwarts Legacy, players are able to attend classes at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry while also being able to visit iconic Harry Potter locations such as the Forbidden Forest, Diagon Alley, and Hogsmeade. As for the setting of Hogwarts Legacy, the game is set in the 1890s — about 100 years before the events of the books/films — and follows a student starting at Hogwarts in the fifth year

Players will be able to fully customize their character — such as their appearance, gender, voice, etc. — and will be able to choose which house they are sorted into: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. Given that the game includes the ability to cause harm to other students, players can obviously choose whether their character is heroic or villainous, too.

Hogwarts Legacy will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X and February 10, but won’t release on Xbox One and PS4 until April, and Nintendo Switch in June.
