Last week, the sad and slightly disturbing “Willy Wonka Experience” in Glasgow, Scotland captured the internet’s imagination and became the viral scandal that we never saw coming in 2024.
In case you missed it somehow, the event was advertised using AI art to make it look amazing, but when people showed up it was being held in a warehouse and featuring just “plastic props, a small bouncy castle, and some backdrops pinned against the walls.”
Kids who attended the miserable event left with a single jelly bean and a cup of lemonade.
Perhaps the weirdest part of an already strange happening was the fact that the organizers of the event created a character out of whole cloth named “The Unknown.”
“The Unknown” was supposed to be an “evil chocolate maker that lives in the walls.” Seriously.
Now, Kaledonia Pictures has announced that they will be producing a new movie based on “The Unknown.” (Not to be confused with the Snyder cut-length video of the “Willy Wonka Experience” that also went viral shortly after the whole debacle unfolded.)
“The film, gearing up for production and a late 2024 release, follows a renowned illustrator and his wife who are haunted by the tragic death of their son, Charlie,” the production company explained to Bloody Disgusting. “Desperate to escape their grief, the couple leave the world behind for the remote Scottish Highlands – where an unknowable evil awaits them.”
They also stated, “We are excited to begin production and look forward to sharing more with you as soon as possible. We are actually only a few miles from the event, so it is quite surreal to see Glasgow all over social media, worldwide.”
The actor who played Willy Wonka at the event has spoken out, as has the woman who went viral appearing to be a Oompa Loompa working in a meth lab.
On Sunday, the person who played “The Unknown” at the “Willy Wonka Experience” also revealed her true identity.

“The Unknown being a 16 y/o girl named Felicia is somehow so fitting,” one viewer commented.
She also did a Q&A to answer a handful of the many questions people had about the bizarre experience.
