Hugh Jackman is back in the gym getting himself in Wolverine shape for his upcoming role in Deadpool 3.
In a video posted to Instagram that’s set to a live version of AC/DC’s famed track “Thunderstruck”, Jackman can be seen deadlifting what appears to be 335 pounds if you include the weight of the bar (the Hex is 45, four 45 lb bumpers, two 45 lb irons, two 10 lb bumpers).
Now that the actors’ strike is finally over following an agreement being struck earlier this month, reports indicate that Deadpool 3 — which was apparently about half-filmed when it was forced to halt production over the summer — will resume filming “before Thanksgiving.”
According to director Shawn Levy, Jackman’s Wolverine is essentially the co-lead of the film, as he’s previously said he sometimes calls the film Deadpool and Wolverine instead of Deadpool 3, while also telling BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast that Logan is going to be “canon” to the story of the film.
“I have always said that I can’t wait for Deadpool 3 to come out because all I want to do is give interviews alongside Ryan [Reynolds] where we talk about our reverence for the movie Logan,” Levy explained.
“Logan is canon. We love Logan. That happened. I want the world to know, as the producer and director, all of us share a deep love and respect for Logan, every aspect of how it’s crafted, and all the events that take place.”
In addition to Jackman returning as Wolverine for the first time since 2017’s Logan, Deadpool 3 will also star Ryan Reynolds (of course), Owen Wilson, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Jennifer Garner, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapičić, Rob Delaney, and likely plenty of other famous faces in cameo roles.
Following Marvel Studios’ recent reshuffling of its schedule, which saw the movies Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and Blade all delayed to 2025, Deadpool 3 is now the only MCU movie scheduled to release in 2024.
