Two identical twins from Australia’s Sunshine Coast spoke with the local news after their mother and another man rushed to help a flipped SUV on Steve Irwin Way following a violent car jacking. The identical twins speak in unison throughout the TV appearance and nothing can really prepare you for how surreal this is.

The first time I came across this clip yesterday from 7 News Australia I assumed it was generated using AI. My instinct was to looking at tiny details on the periphery of the camera shot for imperfections found in AI-generated video. Alas, this is real. And nothing can showcase the eerie similarities of identical twins more than this.

Challenge: see how long you can make it through this interview without mouthing ‘what the…’ to yourself while watching this Aussie twins interview:

The man in the flipped SUV was actually the alleged gunman and car jacker. The vehicle flipped near the Twinnies’ Pelican and Seabird Rescue facility which is where identical twins Bridgette and Paula Powers work with their mother, Helen Powers, who runs the facility and who was first on the scene to try and help the alleged gunman after the accident.

According to ABC News Australia, a 41-year-old man is facing 15 charges including armed robbery and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death. More charges are also likely according to police.

The man is alleged to have crashed his red Porsche, leading to a six-car pile up in which one 22-year-old woman lost her life and other person was allegedly shot by the 41-year-old man who is said to have pulled his gun on another driver following the accident, shot the driver, and then took off in that driver’s SUV which was later flipped in front of the pelican rescue where the identical Aussie twins gave their interview…

Everything about this Sunshine Coast, Australia story is wild. The identical Aussie twins interview in and of itself is newsworthy but the details of the accident are heartbreaking and have made global headlines.
