Idris Elba announced via his Twitter on Monday that he has tested positive for coronavirus. He explained that after finding out that he came in contact with someone that tested positive with the virus this past Friday he immediately quarantined himself and went out and got tested.
The 47-year-old stated that he didn’t have any symptoms prior to the test and continues to show no symptoms at the moment.
“This is serious, ya know,” Elba said. “Now is the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands and beyond that there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it. Now is the real time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance.”
“Transparency is probably the best thing for this right now. If you’re feeling ill or you feel like you should be tested or been exposed, then do something about it.”
Elba recently married 30-year-old Sabrina Dhowre who he explained has not been tested, but she is ‘doing ok.’
Last week Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson revealed that they had tested positive for coronavirus.
