The Internet loves a good fight and nowhere is that more apparent than on Twitter where people will argue about literally anything, at any time, on any day of the year. The latest topic that’s gotten people all riled up involves the washing of the feet.
On the one hand, you’ve got people who say that every single part of the body gets scrubbed and washed with soap because every part of the body gets dirty. The other side is arguing that all of the soap and water gets washed down the body and onto the feet. That the feet are getting cleaned by simply existing because they come in contact with all of the suds and rushing water throughout the entirety of the shower.
One of these sides is 100% correct and one of these sides is so foolishly wrong they should all be forced to take baths for the rest of their lives like people who enjoy cleaning themselves in their own filth. The war is raging on Twitter and here are the best arguments so far…This first question/response is a follow-up to washing your legs which everyone SHOULD 100%, guys even more so, because of leg hair and sweat that can get trapped in those follicles.
Alright, this has already sparked a lot of talk here and brought up a follow up question: Do you wash your feet? I'll admit, I don't usually wash the bottoms of my feet because a)they're already in all the soapy water at the bottom & b) it makes it scary slippery! Your thoughts? https://t.co/CTAlAyjslD

I don't wash my feet unless they need to be washed.
I know when they need to be washed, because they are my feet.

Your feet are the closest thing to the nasty ass ground. Especially in warm months. Wash them. https://t.co/POCruFEwE2

Every morning I will laugh.
When I’m washing my legs.
When I’m washing my feet.
When I moisturise my body.
When I lock the moisture with avocado oil.I will laugh. https://t.co/Bmbufi4bgk

Let’s take a moment to acknowledge how insane these people are given their extremely passionate arguments for the washing of feet. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that I feel as strongly about as these people do about washing feet.
It’s blatantly obvious which side is right here. The side that says you don’t need to scrub your feet, the reporter that’s getting ratio’d and roasted is correct. You can scrub your feet if you feel the need to. Perhaps you have some stanky ass feet and they need extra cleaning in the shower. I don’t know you or your feet. However, in general, the feet get cleaned in the shower because all of the water and soap from the body gets continuously rushed down and over the feet.
If you think that the soapy water that’s been washed down your body is filthy then I’d question just how f’n dirty you are to begin with and why you aren’t showering more frequently in the first place. If you’re standing in a few inches of water because your shower doesn’t drain well then you’ve probably got some hygiene problems to begin with and aren’t cleaning your shower. Otherwise, you should be standing on a clean shower/bathtub floor and should be plenty fresh by the end of the shower whether or not you choose to scrub. I’d say I wash my feet more than 50% of the time out of habit but there’s absolutely no reason to, it’s only the force of habit that keeps me going.
If you dipped your feet in a river of soapy water for 5 to 10 minutes you wouldn’t feel the need to scrub them afterward, would you? You’d trust that they were clean because they would be. That’s pretty much the same scenario that’s happening in your shower and if you’re obsessively scrubbing your feet every day then you might want to look in the mirror and consider that maybe your Type-A personality is the reason you’re doing this and other things like screaming at the managers at Chili’s and Applebee’s. Maybe it’s time to chill out a little bit.
