When discussing the greatest television comedies of all-time, the answers you’ll hear are largely the usual suspects: Seinfeld, Friends, The Office, Parks & Rec, etc, etc, etc.

But now, as It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia enters its 14th season, it’s becoming more and more difficult to not acknowledge the bizarro world comedy as one of the greatest of all-time.

On the air since 2005, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is officially unlike any mainstream comedy we’ve seen before, both in terms of longevity and humor. Referred to as “Seinfeld on crack” with a bunch of people just yelling over each other, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia has broken essentially all the rules when it comes to American sitcoms.

Entering its seminal 14th season, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is officially tied with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (a show from the 50s and 60s) as the longest-running live-action sitcom in American television history, which is no small feat.

And when considering the utter madness that ensues in the series, that fact that it’s lasted this long — especially through the height of political correctness culture — is nothing short of a miracle.

Now, with the premiere of season 14 just a few weeks away, FXX has released the season’s first trailer that serves as a perfect reminder of how truly excellent, and insane, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia will return to FXX for its 14th season on Wednesday, September 25. Series star Glenn Howerton will be making his directorial debut this year, as he directed the first two episodes of the season.
