It’s official: The next installment in the Call of Duty series will be from Treyarch’s Black Ops franchise. Call of Duty: Black Ops IV hits shelves on October 12 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with Activision promising more details about the game in a community reveal event on May 17.
Also noteworthy: This is the first time in a long, long time Activision has released a Call Of Duty game in early October instead of November. Speculation is to get ahead of Rockstar releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 26:

Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 is releasing October 12th 2018. Earlier than a usual COD release. We wonder why 🤔 pic.twitter.com/exn1TZfnu9

That CoD Black Ops 4 release date of Oct 12th is VERY telling.
Traditionally it's released in early November, at least the recent games. Now it's releasing ahead of Red Dead Redemption 2..
Even Activision is getting out of Rockstar's way. I had bet otherwise, time to pay up! pic.twitter.com/8QmfGKF4t7

Here’s the Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 teaser released this morning.
In related news, Amazon is currently selling Call Of Duty: WWII for $39.99 right now. Pretty solid time to pick it up…
