Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO are getting a divorce. That is a real sentence.
One of pop culture’s most public marriages is coming to an end after ~10 years.
Although we do not yet know the full story, it seems like this “mutual” parting of ways could get messy. The country music singer cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.
Bunnie XO got cryptic on Instagram.
Alisa Andrea Carter became Andrea DeFord when she married Jason DeFord in August of 2016. Andrea is better known as Bunnie XO. Jason is better known as Jelly Roll. They are getting divorced after more than nine and a half years together.
Bunnie, who has become a beloved public figure in her own right with more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram, worked as an extremely high-end escort prior to their relationship. They met in Las Vegas in 2015.
Jelly Roll proposed to Bunnie the following year. They got married at the Little White Chapel that same day. Their marraige blossomed over the last decade. Bunnie even helped Jelly Roll to get custody of his daughter from a previous relationship.
Although Bunnie and Jelly briefly separated in 2018 after he had a months-long affair, she stayed with him through his struggles. They renewed their vows not too long thereafter.
Bunnie, who hosts the ‘Dumb Blonde’ podcast, has been candid about wanting to start a family with her husband over the last few years. They even decided to go through IVF in 2024. Publicly, you would not know that something was wrong. And maybe it wasn’t.
However, something has since changed. According to court records obtained by TMZ, Jason DeFord filed for divorce from Alisa DeFord in May. Sources close to the situation called it a “mutual” split. A moving truck was spotted outside of their Tennessee home on Monday afternoon.
It’s over. Love is dead.
Bunnie XO posted the following video to Instagram just a few hours before the divorce was made public by TMZ. The lyrics of the song allude to the split from Jelly Roll. The newly separated couple also has a history with Nickelback. It seemed intentional.
And then she got cryptic. Bunnie posted the following image on her Instagram story:

The name of the song is “Help I’m Alive” and the caption makes it seem like Jelly Roll dulled her sparkle. Like she is back to being herself because of the divorce.
Jelly Roll hired a powerhouse lawyer for the divorce.
This divorce is not yet final but the chances of reconciliation are slim. Jelly Roll hired Rose Palermo as his attorney.
If you do not live in Nashville, you probably don’t know this name. She is the best divorce lawyer in the Music City. An article from 2009 is titled ‘Headed for Splitsville? Just hope your spouse doesn’t hire Rose Palermo.’ She was even featured on 60 Minutes more than 45 years ago.
Perhaps most notably, Palermo represented Kristin Cavallari during her divorce from Jay Cutler. You don’t want to see her on the other side of the court room.
For Jelly Roll to bring Palermo on as his attorney reflects the potential for fireworks. Maybe he is just being safe. Maybe he truly expects this divorce to get messy and wants to have the best of the best on his side. Given the public nature of their relationship, and her podcast, I would think we will get (at least part of) the story in the coming days, weeks and months.
