Jennifer Lawrence has joined social media for the first time by making an Instagram account
Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence has officially joined Instagram. She’s also already threatening to leave it.
Jennifer Lawrence, who’s been a Hollywood A-lister for 15 years now but has never joined social media, officially debuted her Instagram account, @jlaw, on Thursday, September 10.
The Hunger Games star has already racked up over 2 million followers, and her first post has over 1.2 million likes at the time of this writing.
Jennifer Lawrence joined Instagram for the first time and immediately threatened to quit if anyone posts anything negative about her
“So, yeah, I’m giving it a shot,” Lawrence said in her first video.
“And if anyone says anything negative, I will quit, immediately — no questions asked. If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know, I’ll know. And I’ll quit.”
She also wrote a message on her Instagram story: “Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby… It’s me. I’m the baby.”
Lawrence’s joining Instagram was likely partially fueled by the fact that she’ll be returning to her iconic role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping when it hits theaters on November 20. Earlier this month, all five The Hunger Games films returned to theaters for a special limited event from September 3-7.
Earlier this year, Lawrence filmed the Martin Scorsese movie What Happens at Night alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris.
The film, based on the 2020 novel of the same name, follows a “married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby but seem to know less about themselves as they struggle to claim their baby.”
Lawrence’s additional upcoming projects also include the murder mystery The Wives and the rom-com One Month Mark, both of which are still in pre-production.
