Jeremy Strong reached out to Mark Zuckerberg about playing him
Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated actor Jeremy Strong is taking over the role of Mark Zuckerberg from Jesse Eisenberg in The Social Reckoning, the upcoming “companion piece” to 2010’s acclaimed David Fincher film The Social Network. Strong says he reached out to Zuckerberg after taking on the role.
The Social Reckoning, releasing in movie theaters on October 9, sees former Succession star Jeremy Strong taking over the role of Mark Zuckerberg from Jesse Eisenberg, who earned himself an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his performance in The Social Network.

During a recent interview with GQ, Strong said that he emailed Zuckerberg after agreeing to take on the role of the controversial billionaire.
“’I wrote to him — I’m probably going to give Sony an aneurysm — I sent him an email. Just to say that I take this responsibility very seriously, and the veracity of it seriously, and I’m approaching it with respect,'” Strong told GQ.
“He won’t speak to Zuckerberg’s response, but confirms that Zuckerberg wrote him back. He says if Zuckerberg had invited him to hang out at Meta’s offices, he probably wouldn’t have accepted.”
Alongside Strong, The Social Reckoning stars Oscar winning actress Mikey Madison — in her first role since winning the Oscar for Best Actress for her work in Anora — as whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White as reporter Jeff Horwitz. Additional cast members include Bill Burr, Wunmi Mosaku, Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, and more.

The Social Reckoning will be released in movie theaters in the United States on October 9.
