A series of videos concerning a birthday coupon and Jersey Mike’s is making the rounds across online platforms.
The poster of the original videos, Instagram user Miesha (@domeafavordntdomenofavors_), reported attempting to redeem a birthday offer for a free sub at a Jersey Mike’s in Baltimore. However, she says she was met with hostile refusal from the staff.
One of the workers shown in her videos even uses profane language toward her, telling her, “Get the f— out. Please and thank you.” Additionally, he says, “I don’t give a f— that it’s your birthday.”
It’s not clear exactly what the reasoning for the refusal was, as we don’t hear it from the workers in any of the videos.
The response to Miesha’s videos, who is also pregnant at the moment, was intense, with the majority of users assuming she never had a coupon and simply wanted a free sub. Most reactions stood firmly with the worker shown in the video, “David.”
Recently, however, another Jersey Mike’s worker shared his own thoughts on the situation, offering a different perspective. In his video, which has garnered over 78,200 views, Andre Thompson (@andrethompson856) states that the incident should have been avoided at all costs.
What Perspective Did This Jersey Mike’s Worker Offer?
“I want to talk about the Jersey Mike’s employee situation that went down with the whole birthday coupon,” Thompson says at the start of the video.
He makes it clear that he is not justifying what happened.
“That was just wrong,” he says. “Doesn’t represent us at all. Not in the slightest bit.”
According to Thompson, the employee should have started by greeting the customer and trying to help her figure out the coupon.
“If the customer is struggling, they can’t get it, help them out,” he says. “Let me see what I can do.”
Thompson explains that Jersey Mike’s birthday reward is usually issued through points.
“Normally what they do, they send you 72 points, which helps you redeem our free regular sub,” he says. “You have to be a member. If you’re not a member, you’re not gonna get it.”
He Thinks The Worker Should’ve De-Escalated
However, Thompson says the situation still could have been de-escalated.
“Easy way to de-escalate the situation is just redeem it,” he says.
According to him, workers have free sub cards they can use in that kind of situation.
“We carry free sub cards,” he says. “Use that to redeem her birthday sub.”
Thompson says the argument was not worth it.
“We get so bent out of shape over a sub,” he says. “At the end of the day, it’s a sub. It’s not hurting us at all.”
He says the employee could have honored the sub and then explained the policy for next time.
“Hey ma’am, I got you,” he says. “Moving forward for in the future, you just got to be a member with us. They send you points and then you’d be all good. But hey, I take care of you today.”
To Thompson, the profanity and back-and-forth should never have happened.
“If any customer provoke you… walk away,” he says. “Get management.”
He ends the video by repeating the same point.
“Redeem that free sub,” he says. “It’s a sub at the end of the day.”
In the caption, Thompson added, “Listen, don’t get stuck in a situation like this. It’s a simple sub at the end of the day!”
Did The Customer Have An Offer To Redeem?
In her original Instagram post, Miesha wrote, “I simply asked to redeem the birthday reward that was offered through the restaurant’s app, just as customers are encouraged to do.”
In a follow-up post after the videos blew up, she shared a screenshot of the in-app offer she allegedly received. The text reads, in part, “To celebrate, 72 Points for a free regular sub have been added to your MyMike’s account! Our gift to you for being a loyal customer.”
According to Jersey Mike’s terms and conditions, customers can receive 72 Shore Points for their birthday if they meet certain requirements. To qualify, a customer must be a MyMike’s account holder, be opted into the email program, have a birthday listed in their account, and have purchased at least one qualifying order using their MyMike’s account in the 12 months before their birthday.
That qualifying order has to include a regular or giant sub, wrap, or sub bowl. It is unclear if Miesha fulfilled all of those requirements, but regardless, the escalation that was captured on video is difficult to justify.

How Has Jersey Mike’s Responded?
So far, it does not appear that Jersey Mike’s has put out a public statement on any of its social media pages.
However, rumors are circulating in the comment sections.
On the company’s official TikTok page, commenters under unrelated videos claimed the chain fired the worker shown in the original videos.
“Why would you fire David???” one person wrote. “He should be moved to General manager!”
However, another user claimed the opposite under Miesha’s follow-up post.
“I JUST CALLED THE LOCATION,” they wrote. “He is not a manager but does still work there.”
@andrethompson856 Listen, don’t get stuck in situation like this. It’s a simple sub at the end of the day! We would rather you to ( REDEEM THE SUB ) instead of going back and forth with the customer! It’s not what we REPRESENT! #bethechange #repost #share #fypシ゚ #dobetter
