Cubic podcaster and UFC analyst Joe Rogan seems to be lightly — and, based on past behavior, temporarily — distancing himself from President Trump and his administration. On a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan essentially admitted to buying the snake oil that Trump was selling.
The admission, which has since gone viral on social media, is from a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. The episode, released on September 16, featured comedian Ron White.
Joe Rogan admitted that he bought what Donald Trump “sold” and that the first year of his second term has not been “ideal”
During their discussion, Rogan admitted that, as far as Trump delivering the promises he made, “it’s not been ideal” thus far.
“People also connect me to that [conservatism] … mostly think that’s cuz they don’t know me. Because I look right-wing and I did kind of help Trump,” Rogan said in a moment of self-reflective candor.
“But other than that, I’ve been left-wing my whole life. I have very left-wing views on a lot of things. I also recognize when government is taking over our lives. And what we were sold with the Trump administration would be that it would drain the swamp. Obviously, it’s not been ideal in that regard.”

During the lead-up to the 2024 Presidential election, Rogan interviewed Trump on his podcast just before the election and publicly threw his support behind him days later. Rogan is widely credited with boosting turnout among his younger, male-skewing audience, leading to left-leaning media outlets in search of a “liberal Joe Rogan.”
This isn’t the first time this year that Rogan has put some distance between himself and Trump, as he previously said he wants “nothing to do with” the MAGA movement, calling parts of it “dorks and weirdos.”
Despite those claims, Rogan was seen standing behind Trump in the Oval Office at the White House in April and called the UFC fight that was held at the White House on June 15.
