If you haven’t seen John Goodman in awhile you might not recognize him.

Over the weekend at the 62nd Monte Carlo TV festival, where he served as jury president, Goodman showed off his incredible 200 pound weight loss transformation.

The 71-year-old actor (he turned 71 on Tuesday), perhaps best known for playing Dan Conner on Roseanne and The Conners, was at one point in his life up to 392 pounds.

Now, The Righteous Gemstones star is the lightest he has been since beginning his weight loss journey back in 2007.

Goodman first started trying to get his health on the right track by quitting drinking, and he credits his personal trainer Mackie Shilstone for helping him continue on that path.

“I was just eating all the time. I was just eating alcoholically,” Goodman told ABC in 2016.

“I just got tired, sick and tired of looking at myself. You’re shaving in the mirror and you don’t want to look at yourself. It gets dangerous.”

Shilstone, who posted a couple of photos of John Goodman on his Instagram account this week, told the New York Post in 2015, “This didn’t happen overnight — it’s been an ongoing process. There needs to be strategic planning.”

Part of that strategic planning was putting John Goodman on a “Mediterranean-style eating plan” that includes fish, chicken, vegetables, fruit, olive oil, and nuts.

Goodman also exercises six days a week and tries to reach 10,000 to 12,000 steps per day, though he admits that he has been slacking since the pandemic.

“I was boxing up until then and I haven’t been able to do that since Covid because I’m lazy,” Goodman told Rolling Stone last week. “I haven’t been exercising, but I’m going to start a routine again this summer where I can get some stuff done. I’ve just let everything go just because I haven’t had the energy because of the jobs.”
