John Mulaney’s new bit about Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been going viral on social media. The joke takes numerous shots at RFK Jr., including his alleged history of cheating on his wife Cheryl Hines, who is best known for her role in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
A clip from John Mulaney’s performance at the Night of Too Many Stars event — a benefit show created by Jon Stewart that raises money for autism education and services that originated as a special on Comedy Central and later moved to HBO before landing at Netflix — has blown up on social media thanks to the fact that fans were allowed to have their phones during the show.
In the bit, Mulaney — who does his own interpretation of RFK Jr’s famously raspy voice — poked fun his marriage to Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Cheryl Hines, his history of alleged infidelity, his past work as a Riverkeeper cleaning the Hudson River, and his current role as a prominent anti-vaccine voice in his role as Health Secretary.
John Mulaney’s stand-up bit about Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cheating on his wife Cheryl Hines “like a dog” went viral on social media
On Twitter/X where the bit was reposted, the video — which you can watch below the transcription of the joke — has racked up over 2.1 million views and counting.
“Five and a half years sober, I was very excited about that. Thank you. Very nice. I’m still not allowed to have more than $200 cash on me at any time. $200 is an agreed upon amount between my wife and I after a lot of trial and error,” Mulaney begins the bit.
“Thank you all for coming to A Night of Too Many Stars. This is the best benefit I’ve done since Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s River Keepers Benefit ten years ago. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was in charge of a group called the River Keepers? If you don’t know Bobby — and I know him… And Bobby! That’s how much he shouldn’t be in government — I KNOW HIM. He is comedy adjacent,” the acclaimed comedian continued.
“You know, he’s married to that woman from Curb Your Enthusiasm. Cheats on her like a dog but likes being around people. Sorry for the pearl clutch here. West Side people who knows exactly what I’m talking about. Sorry to drop that public domain information on the Hollywood Bowl. Robert Kennedy was in charge — back when I lived in New York he was in charge of a thing called River Keepers. They were charged with keeping the Hudson River clean. That’s his job. That’s how good he is at jobs. His old job was keeping the Hudson River — whose native fish are tied-off used condoms.”
“Now he’s in charge… [impersonates RFK Jr.] NOW I’M IN CHARGE OF YOUR BONES. IN YOUR TUMMY. Stupid f—! Your thing can’t be the measles! Did you get the measles? Did— Did you read the card? It was from me. Do ya like having the measles very much? You don’t? Oh no, Bobby Jr. What have we gotten ourselves into? My father… Was in public service. Your father is not a good word for you dude, try dad. Anyway, my father was a good man and I’m a very bad man guy. Look at my Gatorade green eyes and my skin like snake. Can I be in charge of the way you feel in your body? Anyway, enough of that s—. Stop making me political.”
In addition to Mulaney, the Night of Too Many Stars included apperances from Bill Burr, Conan O’Brien, Steve Carell, Ron Funches, Nikki Glaser, Tiffany Haddish, Jimmy Kimmel, Leanne Morgan, Kevin Nealon, Bob Odenkirk, Matt Rife, Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, Ali Wong, Noah Wyle and more.
