I am going to see Joker tonight. I am very excited and so proud of myself for not allowing the excess of pompous think pieces to taint my perception going into the movie. I will read nothing more how it is “problematic.” I will not cower to media-manufactured shooting threats.

I will get a large popcorn with enough butter to kill a small antelope, a Cherry slurpee, and smoke more marijuana than doctor recommended–and whether I like the movie or not–I will have a grand old time.

I vowed to myself that I would not engage in any Joker-related content until showtime, but those who know me know that I am not known for my steadfast integrity and self-control.

So, I allowed myself one mulligan, and it’s doing a deep dive into the new Joker meme that replaces Joaquin Phoenix’s laugh with the cackles of other celebrities, both real and imagined.

It all started with Seth Rogen and spiraled from there.

Now please excuse me while I close my browser until showtime. Maybe.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
