Jon Bon Jovi was in Nashville to film a music video on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge when he spotted a “woman in crisis” and successfully talked her off the ledge and prevented her from jumping in the Cumberland River.

The Metro Nashville Police Department released a clip of Jon Bon Jovi talking the women down during her moment of crisis and they shared it on X with the message “A shout out to @jonbonjovi & his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tue night. Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety. “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,”–Chief John Drake”.

Bon Jovi founded the JBJ Soul Foundation in 2006 and it’s being said he has extensive crisis training through his work with his charitable foundation, training which he was able to successfully put to use in this moment. The goal of his JBJ Soul Foundation is to “break the cycle of hunger, poverty and homelessness through developing partnerships, creating programs and providing grant funding to support innovative community benefit organizations.”

It’s unclear how the situation would have played out had the individual in crisis jumped into the Cumberland River. It is unknown whether or not they could swim. The pedestrian bridge has about 16 feet of clearance from the Cumberland River but the waters can be strong depending on storms. Fortunately, he was able to get through to her and a catastrophe was averted.
