Judge Frank Caprio is the chief municipal judge in Providence, Rhode Island and the star of the television program Caught in Providence. The premise of the show is basically Judge Caprio employs law enforcement to pluck generally law-abiding people from their daily routines and responsibilities, drags them into the courtroom, and plays the nice guy by letting these people go with nothing but a lesson in humanity.

Oh Cap I’m just busting those big balls of justice, don’t be so sensitive.

It’s safe to say one of the most touching moments you’ll ever see in a courtroom occurred during the most recent episode of Caught in Providence when a 96-year-old man revealed to Judge Cap why he was speeding in a school zone.

If this footage doesn’t make you feel warm behind the eyes, you are a son of a bitch.

“You really are what America is all about,” Caprio said.

I agree. You know what America isn’t about? A law enforcement officer making a 96-year-old go into court knowing the old man was taking his son for cancer treatment.

I guess that’s the ugly balance of the universe.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
