Rapper Megan Thee Stallion and future NBA Hall of Famer Klay Thompson broke up back in April after making their relationship public in July 2025. Inside sources say that Thompson’s feelings about her “ghettoness” was a factor.
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity,” Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement about the breakup.
“Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season. ‘Now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? B—- I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall,” she wrote on Instagram.
An inside source claimed that Klay Thompson wanted to break up with Megan Thee Stallion because of her “ghettoness”
While Megan’s statement implied that Thompson may have been unfaithful, a new report has detailed his own issues with the relationship that stemmed from Meghan’s “loud” and “ghetto” personality.
“According to our first source, who described Thompson and Megan, real name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, as two very different people – with the athlete allegedly making that known to those close to him. They claimed Thompson has talked badly about Megan behind her back, including secretly expressing disdain for how ‘loud’ the WAP rapper can be,” The Daily Mail reported.
“He was like, ‘She was just so ghetto. I was over the ghettoness. The way she speaks, the way she acts,'” the insider alleged. “He was over her and didn’t want to be with her. I think he wanted to break up with her for a while but just didn’t know what to do.”
A second source that The Daily Mail spoke to disputed that notion, however, saying that Thompson “never once tried to break up with her.”

Klay Thompson, 36, is a five-time NBA All-Star who won four NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors and is considered to be one of the greatest 3-point shooters in NBA history. Thompson spent the first 11 years of his NBA career with the Warriors after being drafted by the team out of Stanford University and has spent the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks.
