Ever since the release of Avengers: Infinity War back in 2018, the term “the most ambitious crossover since” has entered our lexicon as a means of expressing a combination of two things/people that you’d never expect. And Martin Scorsese crossing paths with Kylie Jenner is certainly one of them.

While at the Wall Street Journal Magazine 2023 Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Wednesday, Scorsese not only bumped into Kylie Jenner on the red carpet but filmed a video with her for his daughter Francesca’s increasingly popular TikTok account.

As for why Jenner was in attendance, she was there with Timothee Chalamet, who she is currently dating. Chalamet recently worked with Scorsese on Bleu de Chanel commercial and is undoubtedly angling for a role in one of Marty’s final few films (if he does make The Wager, a film that will feature multiple 18th-century Navy sailor, you can pretty much guarantee Chalamet will play one them at this point).

That’s certainly not a cynical view of the situation as virtually every living actor, especially one that’s been widely anointed as the next “Him” in Hollywood, wants to work with Scorsese, especially now that he’s been so vocal about the fact that his clock is, both metaphorically and literally, ticking.

Scorsese’s latest movie, Killers of the Flower Moon, is currently playing in theaters. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, John Lithgow, and many more.

Earning $23 million at the domestic box office, Killers of the Flower Moon had the third-biggest opening in Scorsese’s career.

In addition to performing well at the box office — yes, Apple spent $200 million on it, but money is nothing to them and the goal was to have an original Scorsese film in their library — Killers of the Flower Moon is also expected to be a major contender at next year’s Academy Awards and will likely go toe-to-toe with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer in many categories.
