In Walter Issacson’s new biography about Elon Musk, it’s revealed that Curb Your Enthusiasm star and creator Larry David confronted Musk at a wedding over his political opinions.

As Isaacson tells it, the pair were at the wedding reception for Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel when a “fuming” David confronted Musk, asking if he wanted to “murder kids in schools.”

“Do you want to just murder kids in schools?” David said.

Isaacson wrote that Musk was “baffled and annoyed” by the question, and said he’s “anti-kid murder.”

“Then how could you vote Republican?” David said. The comedian later told Isaacson that Musk’s negative posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, about the Democratic Party were “sticking in my craw.”

The biography points out that the confrontation happened just a few days after 19 children were killed in a shooting in Uvalde, Texas. David, however, says he believes he would have confronted Musk anyway, telling Issacson that Musk’s tweets “about the Democratic Party were ‘sticking in my craw.'”

“Even if Uvalde never happened, I probably would have brought it up, because I was angry and offended,” David said.

According to the biography, David officiated Emmanuel’s wedding, while Musk and the Endeavor CEO — who was the basis for the Entourage character Ari Gold — have been friends since Emmanuel bought a Tesla in 2008.

Insider reached out to David, who confirmed via his representatives that he made those comments. Musk’s people, however, did not respond to a request for comment.

Given that this happened in May 2022, one can only imagine how David must feel about Musk these days now that he’s engaging with anti-semitic content on Twitter, which he has since purchased and renamed “X”.

As for David, the twelfth final season of his long-running comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm will be hitting HBO later this fall.
