Larry David crossed paths with OJ Simpson the day his wife was murdered
Larry David may be a master of monotony, but his life also has a stranger-than-fiction quality to it. The latest example comes courtesy of his upcoming biography, which reveals that the Seinfeld creator was at the same golf club as OJ Simpson the day his wife Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered.
According to Emperor of Nothing: The Making of Larry David — the first authorized biography of the Curb Your Enthusiasm creator, written by Blake J. Harris — Larry David and O.J. Simpson both ate breakfast at Los Angeles’ Riviera Country Club on June 12, 1994, the day Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were killed.
A new biography about Larry David reveals that he crossed paths with OJ Simpson on the morning his wife was murdered
Per the book, which will be published on Tuesday, October 20, David was at the club with his wife at the time, Laurie, their newborn daughter, Cazzie, and friends Alan and Robin Zweibel. Alan Zweibel, the longtime comedy writer, knew Simpson from Simpson’s Saturday Night Live hosting days, and the two men briefly spoke that morning.
The reaction to the news on social media was largely the same: it sounds like a plot straight out of his iconic HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm.
“Curb Your Enthusiasm plot where Larry brags about seeing OJ but accidentally gives him an alibi,” one viral reaction joked.
“Episode of Curb where Larry is talking to OJ and somehow gets him mad at Nicole,” another suggested.
“You just know son was dying to write this into an episode of Curb and restrained himself lmaooo,” a third theorized.
“Hey Larry, can I borrow that knife?”
“What do you need my knife for?”
“Why do you care?”
“It’s just when someone asks if they can borrow a knife from you.. ehhhhhh, I kind of want to know.”
“I need to open some packages later.”
“And you have to use THIS knife for that?”
“Yeah.”
“Alright, fine. You know what, fine, take the knife, but you owe me.”— Stephen L. Miller (@redsteeze) October 14, 2026
Brown Simpson and Goldman were found dead outside her Los Angeles condominium. Simpson was charged with both killings and acquitted in a 1995 criminal trial. In a 1997 civil suit, a jury found him liable for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to the victims’ families.
OJ did eventually go to prison in 2008 after he was convicted on 12 charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping, over a botched 2007 confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room. He was sentenced to nine to 33 years, and ultimately served about nine at Nevada’s Lovelock Correctional Center. He was released on parole on October 1, 2017, and died in 2024.
