Country Music superstar Luke Bryan staring at an image of a grow laughing at him
Country Music superstar Luke Bryan is, by every objective measure, incredibly successful. He is a 5-time ‘Entertainer of the Year’ winner, has sold over 75 million records, is an American Idol judge and household name with an estimated net worth of around $160 million. But that has not stopped an untold number of people from clowning cracking jokes at his expense online.
For months, there has been a viral trend/song on TikTok surrounding a fake Luke Bryan song called ‘God Gave Us Fingers.’ The gist is the song is extremely irreverent and crass, hilarious at times, and the song gets played over mashups of Luke Bryan acting incredibly corny on stage at concerts.
At this point there are too many ‘God Gave Us Fingers’ videos to keep track of but it started with user Richard Strangler. He uploaded this video at one point with the caption “Luke Bryan here, don’t turd on me” and the rest was history.
As far as I can recall, I had never seen Luke Bryan on my TikTok FYP until these parody videos came along… Flash forward to the past few days and Luke Bryan released a teaser of ‘Down Goes The Whiskey’ across YouTube, TikTok, etc. This will be the 8th track on his new album Signs that is set to be released on September 18th.
Prior to Luke Bryan sharing this teaser it was unclear if he was aware of the ‘God Gave Us Fingers’ parody trend but after seeing the comments on ‘Down Goes The Whiskey’ there is simply no way Luke cannot be aware of the trend by now. The top comment on Luke’s new song is ‘Fart Goes The Butt‘ with 50,500+ likes.
One of the other top comments with over 8K ‘likes’ from user ‘chey’ is spot on. They wrote “he’s listing things again” and it was at this point that many people realized half of Luke Bryan’s songs are just him listing things. Another favorite comment on the new song was “finally a country song about losing someone and drinking whiskey about it, thank you Luke Combs.”

Surely all the comments aren’t hilarious and harsh, right? Wrong.

Ultimately, none of this will impact Luke Bryan. He is a superstar. The man lives in a world above needing to care what the TikTok comments say. He is also very much a cog in the corporate machine or ‘brand safe’ as many would call it.
Luke Bryan will continue to sell out tours for years to come. But it would be hilarious if he actually acknowledged the trend and made a joke about it on stage at some point. It either that, or videos like this one will continue to enter the discussion for years to come:
